Japan is getting four wide-body Boeing 767 airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft (center); deliveries begin this year. Australia, meanwhile, has selected three teams—led by Boeing, Lockheed, and Raytheon—to compete in its AWACS aircraft competition, which it has designated Wedgetail in honor of its native eagle. (Top left) Boeing is offering its next-generation 737-700 equipped with a Northrop Grumman Multirole Electronically Scanned Array (MESA) radar. Lockheed Martin's candidate (top right) is a new C-130J-30 with an AN/APS-145 radar. Raytheon (lower left) plans to use a modified Elta Phalcon radar mounted on an Airbus A310-300.
